The Musical Magic of English Handbells Chesapeake Bronze Handbell Ensemble Friendship, Maryland Telephone:  301-855-2461    email: ChesBronze@yahoo.com A Community Group with a Community Purpose Chesapeake Bronze is a Community Handbell Ensemble made up of a variety of individuals living in Southern Maryland and Northern Virginia. It was established by this group of fun-loving music lovers in 1998 with the stated purpose of: o Promoting a variety of handbell music to the widest possible audience. o Promoting the understanding of English Handbells and the music they make to enhance the public's understanding and enjoyment of the instrument. o Promoting the art of handbell ringing through a variety of educational and performing venues. o Promoting the art of fun with music! Community Performances Chesapeake Bronze has given concerts for elementary schools, local Civic Clubs such as the Lions and Kiwanis, a local seminary, the Knights of Columbus installation and the Calvert County Chamber of Commerce. It is represented annually by soloist Joyce Terry at the Calvert Hospice Festival of Trees. Chesapeake Bronze has also been featured at regional handbell festivals, most recently to do the world premiere performance of a commissioned work - a jazz version of The Ukranian Bell Carol. The group performs on five octaves of Malmark handbells and four octaves of Malmark Choirchimes.
